About test

Cervical cancer is caused by the sexually transmitted infection (STI) known as genital HPV (Human Papillomavirus), which is possessed by nearly half of all adults in America. Although there are many strains of genital HPV, approximately 14 are considered high-risk. However, women who are thirty and older who test positive for genital HPV are more likely to develop infections that fail to die off. These HPV infections may eventually result in changes in the cells of the cervix. That’s why early screening and treatment are crucial to combat the risk of cervical cancer. NOTE: This test should not be ordered by men of any age or by women under 30.
