About test
This test is appropriate when the patient's personal and family history is concerning for a hereditary cancer syndrome. For example, if the patient has metastatic or very-high or high grade prostate cancer, the cancer may be indicative of a variant in one of several hereditary cancer syndromes, most commonly hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndrome. This test is also appropriate to confirm germline findings from somatic test results, such as MSI/IHC abnormalities or tumor sequencing findings. Molecular diagnosis may help in determining treatment and management, as well as identification of at risk family members.
