ACSF3 Gene Sequencing and Deletion /Duplication
About Test
ACSF3 gene sequencing and deletion/duplication tests are genetic tests that analyze the ACSF3 gene. The ACSF3 gene provides instructions for making a protein called acyl-CoA synthetase family member 3, which is involved in the breakdown of certain fats and the production of energy in the body.
Sequencing of the ACSF3 gene involves determining the order of the DNA building blocks (nucleotides) that make up the gene. This test can identify any mutations or changes in the ACSF3 gene that may cause disease or affect its function.
The deletion/duplication test specifically looks for changes in the number of copies of the ACSF3 gene. Deletions or duplications of genetic material can cause a variety of health problems, including developmental delays, intellectual disability, and other health conditions.
